The impressionable young author speaks!

I just posted an article dealing in part with my experiences with MNW to my blog, so I thought it may be of interest to the rest of you.

That'a a nice post, Faye.

And, yes, many writers are bothered by the assumption that their characters are thinly veiled versions of themselves. I don't let it upset me, though, because it's correct.

My characters are exactly what I would be like if I were them. All of 'em.

That's a good way of explaining it! I suppose part of the reason I find that assumption so comically inaccurate is that I often write about characters with personality traits that are the polar opposite of my own: both Molly (Mirrors) and Lydia (Trades) are accomplished liars, and my near-inability to maintain a pretence of being anyone other than myself has been with me from the very beginning. I'm pretty sure it's genetic.
