Ann is clearly too modest to mention this but it is on the main Pan Mac site:
We are delighted to announce that The Personal History of Rachel DuPree by Ann Weisgarber has won the prestigious Texas Institute of Letters Award for Debut Fiction. Previous recipients include Cormac McCarthy and Larry McMurtry.
Fantastic news Ann - well done and well deserved! Roll on June 3rd...

Thank you, Brian, for posting this. It's been an incredible time, and I was thrilled Rachel DuPree received the Best Work of First Fiction award. When my name was called at the awards dinner, I wobbled my way to the stage, stammered a few words, and wobbled my way back to my table where I forgot my manners and took a big gulp of wine. Then I took another gulp.
Rachel DuPree's a long way from being in the same league with Cormac McCarthy's The Road and Larry McMurthy's Lonesome Dove. Those books won the Best Work of Fiction award. That's the BIG prize while Rachel is in the First Fiction category. All the same, it's incredible company.
Congratulations, Ann. That's great company you're keeping, and thoroughly deserved.
Fantastic, Ann!
Congratulations!

Ann - that is amazing! Certainly worth two (or more) gulps of wine! Many congratulations.
Huge congrats Ann. Hopefully the first of many prizes...
Wooo! Hooo! Go, Ann!drw
Wow, Ann ... just WOW!
Yay! Ann! More wine!
Many congratulations - and fingers crossed for the Orange Prize.
Thank you all. I really appreciate your support. It's all good news for MNW and for us, the authors.
Gulping wine has become the order of the day. It's medicinal. Isn't that what they say?
Yee-hah! Fantastic, Ann!
