Persistently Great

Not only is this a great review of Len's A Very Persistent Illusion, it's also complimentary about MNW in general.

Go Len! Go all of us!

Count me in as a staunch supporter of MNW. Great picks on books, great production to get to (an often beautiful) final product, excellent PR and excellent opportunities for new writers as a result. MNW has proven its worth. My only regret is that I don't have the time to read more books from MNW. My biggest apologies to David on that one, as I have a copy of "Shock and Awe" still in the kitchen, waiting to be read. (And yes, books do permeate this household of one - cos being "one" you can be as untidy as you like - and a neighbour of mine thinks I have obsessive-compulsive disorder because of the books. But he comes from another galaxy, in his case via Liverpool.)

Aliya, thanks for the extra hits today because of this post. Looking at sitemeter, someone in Chester has now developed a form of OCD; I think they should be honest and open and do an "I am Spartacus".

Meanwhile, I remain in my digital interwebby location cossetted by a duvet of full admiration for MNW, (non-digital location Wales: hence the need to combat cold, rain and lashings of wind on an ongoing basis with a decent duvet in reality terms).

Ah yes, perception vs reality, the premise of Len's wonderfully entertaining novel. My next MNW (now the full Macmillan) read will be Brian's latest as I know it has an April publishing date. My congrats to you all and I hope that MNW continues to buck the trend. This time it's not just about how publishing works but beating a ravaged economy. My best to you all.

Hearty congrats Len - well deserved as always.

I think a big cheer is due too from all of us to Crimeficreader who has indeed got behind MNW over the past few years and has had nothing but nice things to say about the imprint and the books it produces.

Yes, thanks Crimeficreader!

Congrats yet again, Len!

(Now if Amazon UK would just get my copy of your book into my hands.)

Thanks for the apologies, Crimeficreader, but they're unneeded. If having books all over the house waiting for me to read them was a crime, I'd be up for a life term!

This is a fantastic review. It seems everyone (other than Robert McCrum) are getting behind the imprint and it's authors - so huge thanks to them all. With luck, MNW's first bestseller won't be far away.

As Crimeficreader says, perhaps the MNW model will buck the trend. It's certainly more financial savy then some other publishers out there...

bookbrunch.co.uk plus a search for MNW works perfectly - thank you, crimeficreader, for that! A nice mention for Brian, too. And belated congratulations, Len! I think we've pretty well proved our critics wrong. They seem to have disappeared, anyway...

Congrats on a great review, Len. Isn't it wonderful to confound the critics? I'm a relative newcomer to MNW, and having watched you and the others garner success, I'm happily poking out my ton at those who said it'd never happen.

Hot dog! Len, congratulations on this excellent review. Your book must be flying off the shelves; good thing I ordered my copy early.

Crimeficreader -- thank you for supporting MNW. It's people like you who help make it happen. Double hot dog!!

Thanks, everyone.

Just to add I had a short story in the Sunday Express "S Magazine" last weekend. (I don't think you can access it on line. I'd have warned you all, but they changed the date at the last moment.) I've also got a piece in the Guardian (Family section) on Saturday - unless they too switch it to another day.

Hey, congratulations on the great review.

I can't wait to read it. I'll be ordering it early next week.

"It" being the book. Argh.

Kudos, Len!

Sorry for my tardiness in adding my congrats. I've been writing furiously in hopes of keeping pace with you. Alas, that's a hopeless proposition (or is it a persistent illusion?).
