Cover the Mirrors goes Romanian!

(Cross-posted from my own blog, but it's only a quick 'un.)

I just received an email from Liz from Macmillan's rights department, informing me that Leda would like to publish Cover the Mirrors in Romania. Needless to say, I am extremely giddy about this prospect, and can't wait to see how the Romanian edition turns out. My first foreign sale!

Romanian? That is altogether too cool--and weirdly appropriate. (Yeah, I know CTM doesn't have supernatural elements, and that there certainly isn't a vampire in sight; but there's something about Romania that still strikes me as a little gothic and 19th century.)

Wow! How utterly fantastic!

An interesting language-it always looks like a kind of melted Italian to me.

Have any other MNWers been translated into the less predictable languages?

Thanks guys! David, I think it was my healthy Transylvanian pallor that swung it...

Congrats Faye! Weird as it is (still, to me at least) to imagine people out there reading our books, how much weirder is it to imagine them doing it in other languages? Love Tim's concept of Romanian as 'melted Italian'!

How utterly cool! Bine faci, bine gasesti! (Romanian proverb - you do good, you find good...)

I looked it up by the way, in case you thought I spoke Romanian.

I have a great friend who keeps offering to translate Testament into Croatian - I've told her there's just the small matter of selling the idea to a Croatian publishing house...

But Croatian - nearly as cool as Romanian, huh? Though I suspect Tim might characterise it as 'melted Russian'!

Congratulations, Faye! If you're going to have a book launch out there, count me in!

Hi, Faye

That’s fantastic news. I was over the moon when the German version of The Secret War was published – doubly so when we found copies on the shelves of bookstores in Vienna.
The only down side is that you never know how faithful the translation will be!

Here’s to conquering Europe… and then (to quote Brain out of Pinky and the Brain) “the world!!”

Thanks all!

Matt, that had occurred to me as well, since I don't speak a word of Romanian.
