The New Goodbye

I just want to steal a bit of space to highlight the fact that Neil Ayres' app is now available, and a very beautiful thing it is too. And the novel itself is marvellous, well worth a read: moving, lyrical and poignant. Do please have a look at it.

Don't you love the cover?

Thanks, Aliya.

In case anyone out there has an iPod Touch (Alis), iPhone (Matt) or iPad, here's a link:

There's a free sampler, but the unlocked version is only £1.69

Huge congrats, Neil

This looks good...

...But, I've tried the free version and it requires iPhone ver 3.1.3 which for some perculiar reason does not upgrade to my phone. I've also heard very bad things about version 3.1.3 of the operating system disabling WIFI and debilating the phone's battery. I think they will still be people out there with earlier OS of the various devices who might get put off this. Any chance a version could be released for 3.1.2 users?

Yep... Bloody Apple are the new Microsoft in every way...

Hi Matt. I noticed that on one of my friend's phones too. I'll flag it up.

Hi Neil. A superb app! Works fine on my phone. I really like the whole sets of extras and a very clever way to showcase quite a range of talented individuals. I look forward to reading the whole book. Congrats.
Cheers
Brian.

Thanks again, Frances. Who knows, maybe a publisher will like what they see on the iPhone enough to bring it to a wider audience.

Thanks, Brian. Glad to hear it's all shipshape. Hope you enjoy the book. Any feedback very welcome.

Matt, incidentally Russell (the developer) says:

'The latest release of the iPhone OS doesn't disable wi-fi.

'Unfortunately we can't submit multiple app versions for older OS versions. The upgrade to 3.1.3 is free and recommended.'

Thanks again to everyone for all the kind words.

Congrats, Neil! Technology throws me so I haven't been able to listen to the app, but no doubt publishers will. Best of luck. The cover alone is enough to capture my attention.

Hi Neil and congrats on this - it looks fab. Sadly, it's my son who owns the iTouch and I would have to be very lucky indeed to persuade him to part with it for long enough for me to read a whole novel! Any chance that it works on MacBooks?

Thanks, Ann. There's actually just the one song to listen to. The rest of the app, including my book, is for looking at.

Alis, unless Apple introduce an App-player for the web, I'm afraid the mobile devices are the only way to enjoy The New Goodbye. Now if you were getting an iPad, that'd do the trick too.
