For a bunch of writers I thought we were worryingly well-behaved. Well, that chair did fall over once or twice but it seemed to do that whether or not we were anywhere near it. And I knocked that blackboard over but that was just bad luck and mispositioning of my handbag.
It was great to meet Deborah and Ciara! Deborah (Dee) certainly won the prize for the biggest effort, coming all the way from the Lake District.

Yes, it was a lovely lunch. It was just great to meet everyone and have the sort of conversations about writing or publishing that make everyone else yawn and go glazed.Sorry to those of you I didn't manage a proper conversation with - next time! My only regret was having to walk past so many bookshops on my way to Brown's and not have time to buy any books, and that I didn't think about bringing the MNW titles I own to get them signed. For those of you who weren't able to join us, you missed a treat, and the steak pie and sticky toffee pudding weren't bad either.
I forgot to bring my MNW books, too! So we'll just have to have another lunch soon.
Yes, it was lovely :) Thanks to all for being so lovely and welcoming...I've been worrying that I didn't leave enough money after all - I remembered as I got on the tube that I had chips too!!
Shame I couldn't stay longer, sounds like you all had fun! Was great as you say, Dee, to meet other like-minded people and talk about writing and stuff. Look forward to the next meet-up!!
I think the worryingly good behaviour was probably because not much alcohol was imbibed, but it was a great occasion and lovely to see everyone. We must do it again. Soon.
Eliza - which chair?
Matt - what's happened to those photos?
Frances
Never fear, the photos will soon be here…and should be up as a blog post this weekend.
Yes, it was great to meet up with everyone again. I would have misbehaved but after the last time at Browns it might not have been such a good idea… ;-)
There was a chair on the side of the table near Aliya and Tim (not pointing any fingers) which several times managed to knock itself over, even when there was apparently nobody next to it.
Probably just the restaurant poltergeist.
It was a great lunch - thanks to everybody who made it happen. Should we make it a quarterly event?
That would be good!
Yes, thanks one and all for letting me crash the party. Apologies to Frances, who went to the effort of organising the meet and who I didn't really get to say more than a hello to.
And Ciara, you may have 'ordered' the chips, but....
