Get-together

With particular reference to Matt's post (below), I wonder whether it might be possible to arrange a get-together/goodbye-to-Matt lunch or dinner, perhaps in the new year (I guess it's probably too short notice for pre-Christmas)? I know that these are hard to arrange, what with day jobs, children, distances to travel etc. But it would be great to meet up if we could. What does anyone else think?

What a lovely idea. Count me in.

Yeah, me too. I can do before or after Christmas.

I'd love to do this. I could probably make most week nights except Thursdays.

You betcha! Friday or Saturday nights best but others not ruled out.

Hi, Frances

That's very kind. I will definitely come down to London if I can. January is going to be a bit busy for me, unfortunately, but February might be possible. I could even do the first two weeks in December at a push...

Thanks, Matt. That's a start! So - December or February? What does everyone else feel? Ideas, please (venue, day, time etc). It would be great to have as many of us as possible. After all, we wouldn't be MNWers as a group at all were it not for Matt.

Wonderful idea Frances. Count me in too. I can do December currently but things will obviously start to fill up soon...

What about a lunchtime on a Tuesday or Weds in the first two weeks of Dec? Would this be unbearably hard for those who have to work in 'real' jobs? I know Len is now unshackled. My freelance work is quiet at the moment. Tim...?

A lunchtime wouldn't be brilliant but if it worked for everyone else I'm sure I could swing something. If we take the first two weeks of December to start on Monday 30 November, the only lunchtimes I'm free are 7, 8 and 9 December and my diary is filling up very quickly (this is budget season for me)!

I can't do the week of 7 December at all (off researching the next novel) but could currently manage any lunchtime/evening the week before - the last week in November looks OK too, except 25th. Our diaries don't look any easier to coordinate than last time! Maybe Matt could pick a date and time and we'll see how many of us can make that?

Last week in November a possibility, then? Very short notice, but if enough people could make it, it might work out? Matt, how about you? Otherwise it looks as though it may have to be February. More comments, please.

Hi Guys

End of November is no-go for me I'm afraid. Work commitments and my own birthday intrude. Looks like it might be February then... but at least that's something to look forward to (publications aside, Feb is usually quite a crap month...)

Ok - shall we cheer February up, and have our gathering then? Over to you, Matt, for some dates!

February would be good for me. I agree with Matt's comments about its general awfulness. I guess the sooner we set a date the better in terms of juggling work commitments etc? My boss is pretty understanding about me swapping my work days but I know we have a couple of annual reviews coming up in Feb and they'd be difficult to get out of.
