Shameless blog stealing

I've decided that from now on I'm going to lift the blog post about each month's new MNW release and copy it onto my own blog. I used to belong to an American cyber circuit for authors and each month every member would blog about that month's author and her book. It seems like a good thing to do.

Matt's interviews and the authors' responses are interesting and illuminating.

So I've pinched Tim Stretton's interview for this month's release. (What are your syndication fees like, Matt, and do you accept payment in alcohol--assuming we ever get to meet?)

Hi, Eliza

That's a terrific idea - anything that spreads the word...

Syndication fees are indeed alcohol credits, though as I'm only doing half the work (David does his bit too) I'll settle for a bottle of Bud and a bag of nuts!

OK, Bud for you and whatever David drinks!

That's really kind of you, Eliza. And mine's a pint please (and a bag of pork scratchings, if you can run to it).

Hee! Frances. I haven't seen pork scratchings for a while, though.

I'll try and repost some of the backlist blogs over the summer and see how many I can get through.

If at some stage we could all coordinate this (ie, a group of us decide to blog about one MNW title during a particular week), the debut (or otherwise) book could actually get quite a bit of internet coverage. It worked well in the group I used to belong to in the US.

Good plan, Eliza - let's do it!

OK, well for anyone who wants to join in, copy and paste Tim's interview on this blog into your own blog this week.

Next week, those who want to join in, can do the same with the post on Sion and his book. It may get bitty over the summer holidays but we can try and work back through the list, at the same time as blogging the months' debuts.

Thanks Eliza - honoured to feature on such an illustrious blog (and the very week I finally read--and loved--Playing with the Moon)...

Eliza, this is a fantastic idea. I don't have a blog or I'd jump right in with this project. Good luck and have fun spreading the word.

It was kind of you to read my book, Tim and glad you liked it!

Thanks, Ann, too! I'll blog you too (working backwards through the titles).

Actually, I do my bit, but it certainly isn't half the work. More like 25% at best. (Plus the name of the blog is stolen from Matt.) MFW is the head honcho.

[Pointless digression: most people assume, if they think about it, that "honcho" is a Wild West term, probably Spanish. It's actually Japanese, from "Han Cho", 'Squad Leader', and came back to the vernacular after WWII for "Guy in Charge." "Head Honcho" is kinda redundant.)

Anyhow, the important points are:

1) Alcohol is a suitable and fungible coin of the realm, and

2) Yep. Playing with the Moon was pretty damned good, and

3) I don't know what "pork scratchings" are, and, on consideration, think I'm happier not knowing.

Oh, sorry. Got sidetracked (there's something new).

I'm not sure about dropping the whole interview onto our blogs, though those who like certainly can; but dropping a post and a link and some commentary might be a grand idea. That would not only spread the word, but drive some traffic over here, too.

Gracias, Eliza.

David, believe me, you haven't lived until you've tried pork scratchings. You don't need to know what they are. If we ever meet, I'll buy you a packet (and a pint of best bitter to go with them).

Sion--I've pinched your launch blog, too, as I'm away on holiday tomorrow.

Eliza, have a great holiday. I hope you're someplace where the sun is shining.

Like the others, I very much enjoyed Playing With the Moon. I read it last spring and thought you especially nailed the shifts from the present to the past, and then again to the present. That had to be a challenge.

Thanks for including me on your blog. For now, have fun and don't spend too much time with the laptop.

Hi Eliza,
Thanks for doing this. I'll put your link on my (pitiful) blog site. Have a great holiday.
