Well done, Brian!

My vote is cast.

I've read all but two of the shortlist; of the ones I've read only the Ellory is in the same league. Rankin, James and Billingham are all there on reputation and the quality of past work.

Thanks for the good wishes and words and votes of support Len, Aliya, Tim, Frances and David! Very much appreciated. And thanks for the vote of confidence, Tim: I'm just delighted to be in such good company.
Cheers.

Brian, the other nominated authors are circling around you, knowing you are the competition.

My husband just finished The Rising, and it's in my stack of "to-read" books. Well done!
