Maggie Dana longlisted

I'm delighted to announce yet another MNW longlisting. Maggie Dana's Beachcombing is on the long list for the Romantic Novelists' Association Romantic Novel of the Year Award. If you scroll down, you'll see her title on the list, which also includes Nicholas Sparks, Santa Montefiore and Louise Bagshawe.

Congratulations, Maggie! Fingers crossed for the next stage: the shortlisting of six titles in February next year.

I just got off the phone with Maggie and at this point she's in a daze and doesn't quite understand that this nomination is especially a huge achievement for a debut novelist.

Not only is this a honor for Maggie, but it's a win for Macmillan New Writing. Congratulations!! We'll be cheering for you to make the shortlist. Well deserved.

Thanks, Ann and Frances. At this point, my daze has turned into a wine haze. Nothing like a glass of plonk beside a roaring fire, especially after I lugged and stacked all the wood myself.

Thanks for posting this. It's a day later and I'm still in shock. This is a very unexpected turn of events, and I'm honoured and thrilled to be a part of it. Will now have to park my brain in neutral for the next two months.

Just heard this news - I read Beachcombing about a month ago - the paperback had got into my local supermarket in the Lake District somehow, and I recognised the cover straight away and added it to my trolley of cat food, washing powder and other mundane groceries. I found it a great read and aspects of it were very familiar so I passed it on to a friend who has just had a torrid affair and whose life may have resonances with the book!
Congratulations and best wishes for the next stage.
