LinkedIn?

Hey, folks.

My position at the healthcare system where I was a director of marketing was eliminated last week in a corporate-wide management layoff. I've been advised by an executive recruiter that the social network site, LinkedIn.com, is a must these days for making connections that may lead to new opportunities. Are any of you currently on LinkedIn. If so, let me know and I'll send an invite your way.

Thanks,

doug

Hey, Doug.

Really sorry to hear that.

Tim, Aliya and I are all on there. Not sure how useful our disparate connections will be for you, but feel free to invite me.

Best,
Neil.

Hi Doug

Echoing others here, I'm sorry to hear this. They say everyone in the UK will know someone in their immediate circle of family or friends who will lose their job during the recession - something that has already happened in our family.

Ironically, my wife, Sarah, works in the NHS, and I work for the National Tier of Jobcentreplus, but we're on the wrong side of the Atlantic to give you helpful advice!
Still, Tim has invited me to LinkedIn so I'll join when I get a moment.

Take care, and I hope something comes up soon...

Doug, I was so sorry to hear your news, and very much hope that you will have some luck soon. I'm in the process of joining Linkedin, but like Neil, I'm not sure I could be of much use, except to say that over here there seems to be a demand for tutors in creative writing. I did it (very part time) last year, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Doug, this is rough news, and I'm very sorry to hear it. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for jobs here in the Houston area. That's a few miles from your hometown but as you know, we do have barbeque here. It'd be a good fit.

Sorry to hear about the news on the job front. But every disaster is an opportunity (as one of my past presidents used to say) so who knows what is just around the corner?

I joined LinkedIn some time ago, but couldn't find any immediate use for it. I'll respond to those who have emailed me once I locate my password!
