Can I Buy You a Drink?

I'm passing through London once again, for a meeting on November 27th.

I'll be around on the 26th (though probably worse for wear, having just arrived that morning). At the moment, I have Friday the 28th free. If you're around and available, I'd be happy to knock back a glass of something with y'all.

I'm free Friday evening (28th) and would be happy to organise something then (unless David has plans for where we should go).

I could be around with comparatively little rearrangement of my diary - count me in!

I've said yes on your blog, David!

Hi, all--

No, Len, I've got no theories. If you'd be so kind as to sort out where we ought to go, I'd be grateful!

I would love to meet up but will have to consult the family diary.

I think I can do Friday evening. S'good, his living near London lark.

Hurrah!

I ought to explain that Ellie is Eliza. I am 'being' my ten-year old again. Must remember to check identity before posting here!

Ah ha!--a pen name.

Lunchtime would be preferable for me - anybody else up for this or shall David and I try and sort something out between us?

I'm wondering whether it would be a good idea to have this gathering instead of the January one since so many people (including Len...) can make it. Do people agree? Is there anyone who was hoping to come in Jan but can't make Nov? What about you, Matt? I would prefer Jan, but could probably make Nov. It would be good to have as many of us as possible.

Hi, Frances

I can do both (I've booked off the 28th and I'll be down in London for Jan 16th anyway for my book launch), but what I would say is that I have contacted Will about the Mac New Writer-lunch in January and there's a possibility of getting some publicity/media coverage for the lunch (as there would be a high concentration of MNWers in one place).
If we go down the lines of just having the one get-together at the end of November, we need to know pretty soon so I can alert Will and Sophie. It's doubtful they could get any coverage for the meet-up at such short notice, but then it would be kind of nice for the November-meet to be only a social gathering anyway...

Hi,

Just to say that I have agreed with David that we'll do something for the MNWers who can make it at our house (in Islington, easily accessible by public transport) on the evening of 28 November. I've invited Will and Sophie.

David has said elsewhere that he will meet up with people who can't make that evening at other times.

I don't think any of that should stop you all having lunch in January on the day of Matt's launch - I get the impression a lot of people will be down for the launch anyway. I may even be there myself ...

If those of you who can make it on 28 Nov could email me - see my website - I'll email back further details and instructions for getting to the house.

Len--can you give us your website url?

Thanks for doing this!

There's a link on this site but the url is: http://www.lctyler.com/

Once on my site you can click on "Contact" to email me.

Hope to see you on the 28th.

Matt - I'm so sorry if I appear to have overlooked your book launch in January! Many apologies. I was in date mode rather than diary mode. As far as the Nov meeting is concerned, I hope to make it, but am still not sure. It would be really good to meet David, as his appearances are (of necessity)so rare. Will it definitely be in the evening?

From replies to date, it looks as though there will be 10-12 of us on the 28th – which we should be able to fit round the dining table. Any more and we may have to re-think the format so (for planning purposes) if anyone else is coming it would be good to know soon … People seem to be able to get here by about 7.00, so we’ll say “7.00 for 7.30” then.

For those not able to make the evening, I see from David’s blog that he and Alis (and others?) plan to meet up at lunchtime.

Look forward to seeing you all.

Hi Len

Seems I'm going to be in London that day too. Can I come as well please?

Len Tyler said...

That's brilliant, Brian. Look forward to seeing you. (I'll email details.)

Frances Garrood said...

Len - thanks so much for offering your hospitality. I'd love to accept, and look forward to meeting everyone on 28th (David - you seem to have had a lot more luck in organising a gathering than Matt and I did - please come over here again!).

I sure wish I could be there, but dang. There's a big ocean between London and me.

I'll be with you in spirit.

You'll be with us in spirit, Ann!

Add me in to this spirit thing! And I just got a copy of David's Shock and Awe and Faye's Cover the Mirror. What better way to connect?
