I’m Frank Saxon

Well it’s Christmas time, and if any of you “lucky” writers work in an office it’s the time of year where much tomfoolery and games occur. Admittedly we’ve had our fair share of quizzes and japery here already, including the obligatory “porn-star” name-game and “Star Wars” name-game.

So in this spirit, and before we disappear into Christmas bedlam, I propose we share our “Pseudonyms”. Now, I might be treading on a few toes if some of you MNWers already use a pseudonym, but my author’s name is a 100% me. And I’ve always wondered what my pseudonym would be…

So I’ve devised a great way of calculating one:
Take your first middle name (if you have more than one) and then add the surname of the main character from your first book.

There. Easy, isn’t it?

For the record, my pseudonym is Francis Saxon (and my porn-star name is Casey Feely*)

Merry Christmas to you all and see you in the New Year!!

(*The porn-star name, for those not in the know, is derived from the name of your first pet followed by your mum’s maiden name).

Hmmm. I guess my pseudonym is "Thomas Clayborne". Could be worse.

But my porn star name is "Blackie Davidson". Can't compete with "Casey Feeley", I'm afraid...

Interesting idea! It seems my MNW pseudonym is Louise Hamilton, assuming we're going with Molly's married name instead of her maiden name. I prefer Hamilton, though, it sounds nicer.

My porn star name, however, is the very masculine-sounding Sam Davy. Meh.

Anne Byrne.

Quite nice.

Porn star name is Kate Wise, which doesn't really do it, does it?

Trust me to be awkward - I don't have a middle name and none of my characters have surnames (it's one them thar fantasies...)

My porn star name is the ludicrous "Roopy Medley" - although if Roopy's predecessor had lived only a few months longer it would have been the much more satisfactory "Randy Medley".

These are pretty good pseudonyms, though the porn-star names sound more like names of X-Factor contestants.

Can't remember how to do the "Star Wars name-game", but mine oddly sounded like another porn-star name.

OK, I'd be Elizabeth Miller, which has a certain ring, or Elizabeth Kineton if we're going for the main character in the historical bit.
Porn star name - yep, mine's like Faye a bit masculine but also a bit old English rural - Rex Critchfield!

My pseudonym is Jessica St Clair. Romantic pot-boiler, anyone?

Porn star name is Flopsy Sherborne.

Mmmmm. No, I don't think the porn-names are working somehow. I mean, Aliya's sounds more like a Beatrix Potter character.

I like the pseudonymns though.

I wonder if any of us would actually use one...

Good game, can anyone play? I'd be Lucie Fairhurst or Lucie Ware, depending on which bit of the novel you take. And who knows? Like Roger/R N Morris, any of us might just need to use a different name, one day...

I have had to use my porn star name for an anthology of erotic fiction where we're all going by those, rather than our real names. (I'm dying to find out what Faye Weldon and Kathy Lette will be calling themselves!) But mine ought to be Abigail Hereford which sounds soooo like a nice gel from the Shires that I've had to bend the chronology a bit, to get... well, something a bit racier!
