To give all Macmillan New Writers a voice and blog/web presence if they so require it. A presence to enable them to spread their news good or bad, a platform to discuss their writing and the whole experience of being published under Macmillan New Writing...

Short response: Yay!
Yay indeed!
Very cool. Congrats!
This is terrific news!!! Congratulations.
So now you have to give us the details on how you and the agent found one another.
Good news, Faye!
Thanks all!
Ann: I found the agency's site by Googling something like "literary agent historical fiction", and I was pleased to see from Edwin's bio that he was (and is, I presume) seeking clients in a variety of genres including historical fiction.
I used the electronic contact form on the site to send him a short message about me and my books, and he emailed me back to say that he'd like to read some of my work. I posted him a paperback copy of CTM (and later emailed him the Word doc of one of my unpublished works at his request), and after the Frankfurt Book Fair he emailed me again to ask me to phone.
I did, and we chatted on the phone for a while...the rest is history, really. The contract has just been signed.
Excellent news, Faye
Despite us MNWers being in an enviable position of not needing at agent for our first two books with Mac New Writing, it seems like having one is necessary to keep the whole writing-momentum going. Aliya and Brian both swear by them, and after a recent chat with David Headley and Brian I've started putting something together to send to an agent in Jan/Feb - so with luck I'll be joining the ranks of agented-writers under MNW. (I reckon it's time for me to get a little serious with the writing and an agent will do that.)
Huge congratulations on signing the contract!

Congrats Faye. Wishing you every success.
Thanks guys, and good luck Matt!
